HTC does it again, this time round with a near bezel-less phone. The upcoming HTC U11+ model has an 18:9 6.0-inch Super LCD6 of 2880 x 1440px resolution display in Gorilla Glass 5. Like its predecessor U11, the U11+ will have the same glossy reflective liquid surface rear and a squeezable frame.
This frame which is also available on Google Pixel 2 (the same HTC team worked on this), is a quirky navigation feature which can be used to open your app launcher wheel. U11+ only comes in 3 colours namely Ceramic Black, Amazing Silver and Translucent Black.
In terms of specifications the 188g U11+ measures 158.5 x 74.9 x 8.5 mm, packs a 64-bit Snapdragon 835 processor, 6 GB of RAM and a 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage with microSD expansion via a hybrid SIM slot (4 GB/64GB versions will be available in Asia). It also comes with a big 3930mAh battery which you can quickly charge up with Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 via USB-C and has an IP68 dust- and water-resistant rating. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack as expected but Bluetooth 5.0 is available.
On that note, another feature worth noting is the BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition speakers on the U11+. With these speakers, U11+ is capable of pumping out audio 30 percent louder than the U11 with a deeper bass sound.
Camera-wise the U11+ has a 12MP UltraPixel 3 OIS camera with an f/1.7 aperture, 28mm focal length, 1.4µm pixel size, UltraSpeed dual-pixel phase detection autofocus, HDR boost and a dual-LED flash. It can do 1080p video capture at 120fps, and 4K recording with Hi-Res audio. Front-facing camera is now 8-megapixels.
HTC U11 Plus will be priced €799 in Europe and be available in selected markets in the world. US is not included. Release dates are yet to be officially confirmed. However, you could always pre-order yours here on Etoren first.
